During
the summer the south facing garden here at Hilltop is a
gorgeous riot of colour and scent, the 250 year old
thatched cottage barely visible amongst the greenery and
flowers. Unusual and interesting annuals and perennials
alongside traditional and familiar plants like phlox,
roses, asters and dahlias boldly combine to make a
spectacular display. |
|
A
wildlife pond to the left, tubs, troughs and hanging
baskets in front of the cottage and an arbour covered
with roses, sweet peas and clematis runs the breadth of
the garden and draws the eye over the boundary hedge and
surrounding farmland to the Dorset Downs. |

You may
have read some of the many articles on the garden that
have appeared in magazines such as The English Gardener,
Period Living and Garden News, also in publications more
local and as far afield as Germany and Japan. |

The
whole garden is a haven for more than just visitors with
butterflies and bees amongst the flowers while the skies
above are filled with swooping swallows and house
martins.
|
The garden was included
as one of the Daily Telegraph's 50 Great small gardens
to visit.
The garden has also been featured on TV, with Joe Swift.
